"A SPACE FOR THE OPPORTUNITIES"
Open poster and pictures competition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of
psychologist, philosopher, writer
Aaron Abramovich Brudny (1932-2011)
Aaron Abramovich Brudnyi was not just one of the most famous philosophers and scientists in Kyrgyzstan, but also a very versatile person. Above all, his work has been devoted to the topic of communication, his ability to establish communication with anyone looked fantastic. The same could be said about his books. Many philosophers and biologists, linguists and mathematicians, psychologists and architects read his books, and the list of readers would be endless. Not to mention the fact that the audience includes all - from academics to students. These books are considered to be scientific, but they are not just written on an available, but, in a way, poetic language. Working on the problem of understanding the text Aaron Abramovich devoted great attention to the idea of "visual" text, and for this reason, he selected illustrations for his books very carefully. However, his ideas and his legacy never really had a visual representation.
This competition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Brudny aims to fill this shortcoming. The competition is open to all, who are ready to present the poster which reflects the work of A.A. Brudny.
The topic of the competition can be approached through the following:
- "Different people – common ideas" - association with the book Science of understanding (Psychological hermeneutics)
- “The World of possibilities and Possible worlds"- any direct or indirect understanding of this topic - The book The Space of the Possibilities.
- Ecopolis - city of the future. Ecopolis is a bridge-city. The bridge is thrown between present and future; a special form of human settlements, where the positive aspects of the contemporary urbanism were combined with the natural environment. A. A. Brudny knew the history of architecture and showed a great interest in city-planning ideas associated with the future. However, Ecopolis is also a special environmental project which serves man and nature on the way of co-evolution and development (see chap. "Ecopolis" in the The Space of the Possibilities)
- “Airplanes and airships” - the role of the aviation in the development of the Soviet prewar generation’s imagination. A. A. Brudny was a great admirer and expert of air technology, in which a visual aesthetic component has played a huge role.
- “Frunze as a communication environment” - any graphic display of intellectual and the cultural life of the Frunze 1960-80s.
- “Her Majesty the Bonfire” - In the book Personetika, Brudny asked his readers a question: “What could be written in the book “Her Majesty the Bonfire”?” The authors of posters are invited to make their graphical interpretation of this uneasy phrase - perhaps in the form of a book cover...
- “I am here, I will be" – when leaving briefly, Aaron Abramovich always left a note on the department door. (Reflection of any of the many inclinations of A. A. Brudny to science, literature, teaching).
