AUCA has launched a series of lectures on the subject of Countering extremism

The American University of Central Asia launched a series of informational and prevention lectures on the subject of countering religious extremism and preventing terrorism. The first guest lecture held on November 30 by Zakir Chotaev, Deputy Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs, on the subject of religious policy in Kyrgyzstan.
During the lecture, AUCA students and faculty got acquainted with:
- policies and measures implemented in Kyrgyzstan in the field of religion and religious education;
- history of religious trends widespread in Kyrgyzstan;
- potential threats brought by the proliferation of radical movements from the Middle East that are unconventional for Kyrgyzstan.
Zakir Chotaev also answered practical questions regarding the religious education of young people and the prevention of the distribution of extremist literature.
